Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Here we all are - Mom and us in that trailer-park in China Lake in the middle of the Mojave Desert. September of 1955. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

The usual apologies for not posting before this. A lot of small errands, and trying to work in between them: switching insurance carriers, getting stuff done on the house in order to accomplish that, prepping for a summer of long-distance travel. I haven't been out of the country - I don't think - in over twenty years. This summer I'll be two weeks in Japan, and a week in Spain at the Celsius 232 Literary Festival.

It's been difficult to concentrate on work. Since both trips will involve carry-on only - and about half the carry-on to Japan will be gi's (a group from our dojo is going to train at the home dojo of our aikido style - two and three classes a day) - there's a certain amount of stress about what to take. Fortunately, one can fit a WHOLE lot of books onto a single iPad.

In the meantime, doing as much as I can: research on the Battle of New Orleans (actually there were four battles), and the usual problems of writing a mystery with two separate time-lines, between which the city of New Orleans changed substantially. Trying also to tidy up two Further Adventures for posting - I neither painted pictures, nor wrote Further Adventures, in the 2 1/2 years since my Mom's passing, and it's very nice to get back to those things as well. (A friend once compared grief to running a very large computer program in the background of anything you're trying to accomplish. It just slows you down).

At least I'll have pictures of my travels to show.

And Hollywood Mystery #3 - Saving Susy Sweetchild - will be out in September.

Thank you all for your patience!

  1. I love your work - I'm so glad the Benjamin January books are now on audio.

  2. Just recently stumbled into your writing! Specifically read the Sun Cross duology, and I had a question: were you originally intending to write a third book in the series? The ending of The Magicians of Night made it seem like there would be another one where Rhion would be combating the rise of the cult of Agon.

Loved the books, glad to see you're still going strong
